Photo Artistry
Tinting gives photos a "painterly" lookThe art of hand-tinting photographs began in the early 1800's in an effort to impart life-like color to daguerreotypes. It is a fine art requiring a skilled painter's hand, otherwise the tinting can obilterate the "likeness" in the photograph. But when done properly, a hand-tinted photograph glows in a very distinctive way, much like the "perfect likeness" portraits that were painted on ivory at the very beginning of the 19th century.
Tinting adds a touch of class
Turn an ordinary photograph into an extraordinary work of art. Hand-tinting can add sparkling splashes of color to jewelry, clothing, flowers, and sky and make skin tones come alive in a completely different way than the ultra-realism we are used to with modern films and digital photography.
Going beyond tinting
Nothing is as impressive as a well-done oil or pastel portrait. Based on your photographs or ones from a special photo shoot, portrait artist Elaine Lilling can paint a museum quality heirloom for you by hand in oil or pastel. Painting in the style of the old masters, Elaine's portraits capture both the "likeness" and the "spirit" of her subjects.
